American music producer Rick Rubin has earned a sizeable net worth of $250 million. An influential pioneer in the American hip hop scene, he is widely known as the co-founder of Def Jam Records. Rubin has worked with several talents in the music industry such as Jay Z, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, System of a Down, Sheryl Crow, Lana Del Ray, Shakira and Kanye West to name a few.

When he was still in high school, he formed a band called Hose and played gigs around New York City. He and DJ Jazzy Jay produced a song for T La Rock who introduced Rubin to Russell Simmons. In 1994, the company released Johnny Cash’s hit album American Recordings. Johnny Cash released five more albums with American Recordings. He produced two songs for Joe Strummer before Strummer’s demise. In 1993, he produced the album Wandering Spirit for singer Mick Jagger and Voodoo-U for Lords of Acid. He went on to produce albums for Tom Petty, AC/DC, Shakira, Donovan, and Metallica. He is also the producer off Jay Z’s hit song 99 Problems. He and Mike Shinoda co-produced Linkin Park’s Minutes to Midnight, A Thousand Suns and Living Things in 2007. Rubin received the Grammy Award for Producer of the Year in 2007. In 2007, he became the co-president of Columbia Records.

Born on March 10, 1963, in Long Beach, New York, Rubin was raised in Lido Beach. Rubin made cameos in the music videos for Beastie Boys’ You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party, Jay Z’s 99 Problems and Eminem’s Berzerk. He also made appearances in documentaries like Funky Monks, Fade to Black, Runnin’ Down a Dream, The Meeting of a Thousand Suns, Inside Living Things and Sound City.
